How to get to Poble Espanyol
El Poble Espanyol. The Spanish village in Barcelona on Montjuic hill is an open air museum with handicraft shops, restaurants, bars and night clubs. In the summer there are concerts and activities. The Spanish village in Barcelona is an open air museum in Barcelona with 40 handicraft shops, several excellent restaurants and bars and one of Barcelona best flamenco shows called El Tablao de Carmen. The Spanish village Poble Espanyol was constructed in 1929 for the Barcelona International Exhibition as a pavilion dedicated to art. From the beginning, it was conceived as a real "village" in the middle of a city, with a surface area of 49,000 m2. The objective was to give an idea of an "ideal model" of a Spanish village containing the main characteristics of all towns and villages in the peninsula which resulted in 117 buildings, streets and squares. Today Poble Espanyol is often used for concerts, events and festivals. Poble Espanyol (Spanish Village) is on Montjuic hill near Plaza España.
