Palau de la Musica Catalana
Palau de la Música Catalana. This is a fabulous modernist concert hall in the centre of Barcelona designed and built from 1905-1908 by one of the stars of modernism in Barcelona, Catalan architecht Lluís Domènech i Montaner  In 1997 this building and the Hospital Sant Pau, also by Domenech i Montaner, were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site  With 100 years of history, the Palau de la Música Catalana (1908) is a cornerstone in Catalan musical life. It was created as the home and concert hall of the Orfeó Català choir, an amateur choral society founded some years earlier by Lluís Millet, which was significant in the reemergence of Catalan popular music. From 1982 to1999, the Tusquets-Diaz architects studio carrried out works to redesign and modernise the building's facilities.

Guided tours of the Palau are available from Monday to Sunday from 10.00 to 15.00 every half hour in Catalan, Spanish and English. The tour lasts 50 minutes and consists of an audio visual presentation and visit to the concert hall itself. Please note that visiting times may vary or visits may be cancelled, according to the availability of the concert hall. There is a nice cafe in the lobby of the Palau and an excellent restaurant inside the Palau de la Musica buildings called La Mirador.
