Barcelona in December is generally cold in the morning and the evening, so we suggest you pack light, but warm clothes. If you are going on day tours to inland regions, like Montserrat abbey, or high mountain areas like Andorra, then pack a winter jacket and consider winter boots.

December can be quite warm and pleasant during mid-day, so in general for a December and Christmas stay in Barcelona, pack light winter clothes clothes and include a light cap, scarf and gloves for windy days. Shorts are rarely worn in December by locals, but on a warm day at mid-day you could wear shorts and a T-shirts in the sun, but have a fleece handy.

We don't really recommend packing flip-flops and beach wear. The water temperature is cold for comfortable bathing and the beach services are not open.
