Palau Reial de Pedralbes Barcelona. The Royal Palace of Pedrables. !8th century palace, which was the royal palace built for King Alfonso XIII and used by the Spanish royal family from 1919 until 1931 as their residence during visits to Barcelona. Later it was used by the dictator General Franco. Since 1990 the Barcelona ceramics museum "Museu de Cerámica i de les Arts Decoratives" which occupys part of the first and second floors, while the ground floor still houses the former throne-room and royal chambers, which are now also used for public and private functions. The palace is located is at the exclusive upper end of the Avenida Diagonal near the Zona Universitaria and is part of the Barcelona history museums DHUB. The palace and lovely palace gardens are free to visit except the areas of the ceramics museum.
