The official anthem of FC Barcelona, known as the "Himno del FC Barcelona" in Spanish or "Himne del FC Barcelona" in Catalan, was written in 1974. The anthem was composed by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria Espinàs. It is always played before Barcelona's home matches at the Camp Nou stadium and is an important part of the club's tradition and identity. The anthem is always sung by the club's supporters before and during matches to show their support for the team.

The official Barca hymn or anthem was first sung at the Camp Nou stadium on November 27 1974 for the FCB's 75th anniversary at a game between FC Barcelona and the East German National team.

A massive choir of 3500 singers conducted by Oriol Martorell performed the Barça hymn in public for the very first time. The lyrics are by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria Espinàs and the music is by Manuel Valls Gorina.









Unlike for example British football fans, the FC Barcelona fans - called 'culés' - do not really have many other songs that they make up or sing themselves except the Cant del Barça.
