Concurs Roses Noves de Barcelona.

The annual Barcelona rose competition is at Cervantes Rose Garden. Free admission. Every year at the beginning of May since 2001 the rose gardens at the Cervantes park in Barcelona has hosted the international new rose competition that attracts contestants from all corners of the globe.

There are seven prizes in the competition and the coveted first prize - named 'Barcelona' is awarded to the best new rose of the show every year.

The Parc de Cervantes i Roserar is at the very top of Avenida Diagonal near the metro stop 'Zona Universitària' on metro green line. When deciding who wins the 'best rose' award panels of local and international floral experts evaluate all aspects of the new roses taking into consideration technical factors like hardiness, development, leaf, flower, fragrance and resistance and the more obvious factors like novelty, fragrance and appearance.

In addition to the glory, the winning rose also gets a place of honour in the Rose Garden of the Parc de Cervantes beside previous winners. The Barcelona International New Rose Competition also features concerts, cookery demonstrations, workshops, talks, floral arrangements and other activities.
