Els llums de Nadal 2017. The Barcelona Christmas lights are called "Els llums de Nadal" in the Catalan language. Barcelona streets will have over 100km of Xmas lights for 2017. In 2017 the Christmas lights will be turned on at 7pm on Thursday 23rd November prior to Black Friday Barcelona on Friday 25th November. The official opening ceremony will be on Las Ramblas street. The ceremony to officially light the  Barcelona Christmas lights  takes place in a different neighbourhood each Christmas. In 2017 the middle of the Ramblas was chosen in tribute to the victims who died and were injured in the August 2017 terror attack, and also in recognition of the traders, restaurateurs and neighbours of the Ramblas, who were a magnificent example of generosity and kindness and community spirit during and after the attack.
