The San Miguel del Puerto church on the Plaça de la Barceloneta in the Barceloneta area is the parish church for the neighborhood of Barceloneta. The Barceloneta neighborhood was built in the 18th century for residents of the Ribera neighborhood who were displaced by the construction of the military fort Ciutadella of Barcelona. The neighborhood of La Barceloneta was designed by engineer Juan Martín Cermeño and his son designed the Sant Miguel del Port church.
