Barcelona Fiesta Mexicana - Fiesta Patrias 2019

El Grito in Barcelona" is celebrated on the evening of Sunday 15th September 2019 in Barcelona. El Grito de Dolores - (the cry for independence) is the central event of the Barcelona Fiesta Mexicana fair in Poble Espanyol Spanish museum village on Montjuic hill. 

The Grito de Dolores was the battle cry of the Mexican War of Independence uttered by Father Miguel Hidalgo on September 16, 1810 as a call for revolution against the authorities of México.

On this day Mexicans all over the world celebrate México’s independence from Spanish rule. 

The next day, September 16th (Dieciséis de septiembre,) is the Mexican Independence Day and the most important non-religious holiday in Mexico.
