European Central Bank (ECB) summit in Barcelona

La cumbre del BCE. ECB summit in Barcelona is from 2nd to 4th May 2012. Due to the Governing Council meeting of the ECB in Barcelona extra security measures will come into force for visitors arrving in Barcelona visitors in the days before, during and after the summit. From the period starting midnight 28th April and ending midnight 4th May 2012 the Schengen Protocol (which is the EU agreement of free movement without border controls between EU countries for EU citizens) will be temporarily  suspended, which means visitors can expect minor delays entering Spain and Barcelona because everyone will have their passport checked upon entry. In a further security measure during the ECB summit an additional 6,500 police officers will be on patrol in Barcelona.
