Catalonia’s top clubs, FC Barcelona and Espanyol, play for the Catalunya Super Cup title in Tarragona. Barça are defending the title in what is only the second edition of the event in the modern format. The history of the Catalonia football title dates back to the founding of FC Barcelona before the formation of the national Spanish league. The title has had different names and was abolished during the Franco dictatorship.
