Last year the Spanish government approved the project for the high speed AVE train link between Barcelona and Madrid to pass directly under the world famous  Sagrada Familia church by Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona. The new tunnel for the AVE train will be located 4 metres beneath the foundations of the unfinished church, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site along with other Gaudi buildings. An organisation called sossagradafamilia.org  has caused quite a stir in Barcelona by posting a video on YouTube depicting a fake news report of the Sagrada Familia collapsing because of the tunnel works. The Barcelona government has protested strongly to the fake news video. It claims that the AVE train tunnel will not put the most famous landmark in Barcelona in danger, even though the famous church is directly above the projected path of the AVE train route  between the streets of Mallorca and Entenca in the centre of Barcelona. Many residents of Barcelona are still sceptical about the tunnel's route  and have petitioned to have it changed so it will pass along the coastal roads of Barcelona instead.  So far all protests have been in vain. As if all this was not enough, the poor old Sagrada Familia apparently never got planning permission during the 125 years of construction, so they are on shakey legal ground too!
