Oreneta Park Barcelona. Castell de l'Oreneta park is one of Barcelona's best loved and biggest parks although a long way from the city center. It was built on two former private country estates, Can Bonavia and Oreneta. and opened as a park in 1978.
Orenta park is open all year round from 10 am until sunset. The name came from the Oreneta Castle, the ruins of which can still be seen.
Oreneta park is one of the few really wooded parks in Barcelona where you can talk walks with a forest feel rather than a park feel. Oreneta borders on the woodlands of the Collserola hill ridge and always has some viewing points with views of the city.
There are excellent attractions for children like playgrounds,
pony rides and also a fun
miniature steam train ride of 623 meters, which takes passengers through no less than 3 tunnels and over 2 bridges and a viaduct before returning to an impressive station.
Trains rides are usually open on weekends between 11.00 and 14.00 Another popular feature is the picnic areas with views of Barcelona. There is an open air public swimming pool open in the summer in the muncipal sports center called 'Can Caralleu' next to park Oreneta.
