Barcelona's principle wine fair welcomes 20,000 visitors, 952 wine cellars and 73 D.O Demoninations of origin from over 70 quality labels and 40 wine regions of Spain, among them most of Spain's top wineries. During the three days of the fair, around 70 presentations and wine-tasting activities have been organized with over 150 renowned experts. This wine fair also includes workshop, talks and round tables on many issues affect Spain's wine production including sustainability, climate challenges and more. Barcelona Wine Week will once again be attended by experts, critics, Masters of Wine, sommeliers and prominent winemakers on the current wine scene. Barcelona Wine Week is held at Barcelona's Fira de Montjuïc fair area and around 650 buyers are expected to visit. Spain is the third biggest wine producer in the world, with 4.05 billion liters produced in 2022. Spain is first in numbers of wine exports, and the third largest country in tems of export value. A wine appellation is how a country categorizes its wines by geo-political boundaries. Each appellation has laws and regulations that defines where the grapes are from and how the wine was made. It is a legally defined and protected geographical indication used to identify where the grapes for a wine were grown. It specifies a specific region, geographical area, or terroir with specific growing conditions, such as soil and climate, that impact the final character of the wine. How to get to Fira Montjuic exhibition centerFira Montjuïc exhibition centre is the one of the two big exhibition centers in Barcelona. Both are operated by the FIRA Barcelona organization. The Fira Montjuic location is where many of the biggest Barcelona trade fairs and exhibitions are located. Hotels near Fira Montjuic Website Fira Montjuic Barcelona The Fira Montjuic Exhibition Center in Barcelona is slightly off-centre by Barcelona by Plaça d'Espanya. From Fira Montjuic is about 25 minutes from Barcelona airport and 10 minutes from Barcelona's most central square Plaça de Catalunya by car or taxi. By metro there are 4 metro stops from Fira Montjuic to Plaça de Catalunya in downtown Barcelona. There are many facilities near the Fira Montjuic trade fair area including top hotels, shopping mall Las Arenas in a former bull ring and many popular Barcelona attractions including the Magic Fountain, the Poble Espanyol Spanish Village, Montjuic hill and the MNAC Catalonia National Art Museum.
