Where to stay in Andorra 2020?

Where is the best place to stay in Andorra?

It depends on the purpose of your visit. Are you visiting for sightseeing and shopping or for skiing or hiking?

If you are travelling to Andorra for sightseeing and shopping, then the best place to stay is in the capital of Andorra - called Andorra la Vella.

Andorra La Vella is a valley town surrounded by steep mountains.

Andorra La Vella has an tiny medieval city center and a modern area with plenty of shopping.

The sales tax in Andorra is only 4% compared to 21% in Spain or France, so there are good deals to be had.

Andorra la Vella city merges into les Escaldes town. Les Escaldes is actually in a separate parish, but visitors will not notice that it is not the same town .

The Les Escaldes area has most of the modern shopping streets and shopping malls.

Andorra's main activities are tourism, shopping and banking. Andorra is outside the European Union and with a sales tax of just 4% it is an attractive shopping destination for French and Spanish visitors from either side of this tiny mountain country.

Andorra is a fun and quirky place to visit but unless you are skiing or hiking, then a day or two in the country is fine for a visit.

If you are visiting Andorra for skiing then there are two big skiing areas called Vallnord and Grandvalira

Many people visit Andorra on a day tour in connection with a stay in Barcelona, Spain.

It's a chance to see a little known unique high-altitude country that doesn't often come your way.
From Barcelona you can go on a day trip to Andorra which also visits France on the way.
