Hotel Cuatro Naciones. 2 star hotel. Guest rating Very Good. Historic hotel on La Rambla. Simple, yet attractive hotel located in an central location in old part of Barcelona. Las Cuatro Naciones was founded in 1770. The name of four nations is derived from France, Italy, England and Portugal. This was the place to stay when it opened and many celebrity guests have stayed here among others, Wild Bill Hickok, better known as Buffalo Bill, US President Ulysses Grant, Frederic-Francois Chopin, writer Charles Nodier, French writer Stendhal, and Albert Einstein. Its convenient location near the now closed Teatre Principal and the Liceu opera house also made it a favourite with performers at the theatre and opera.
