Hotels Carrer d'Enric Granados Barcelona |
Hotels Carrer d'Enric Granados in Eixample area of BarcelonaLast updated February 2023 The street Carrer d'Enric Granados is considered one of the nicest streets in the modernist Eixample district of Barcelona. Carrer d'Enric Granados is a semi-pedestrian street with only one lane of low speed traffic and many speed bumps. The traffic restrictions makes it much quieter and more tranquill than many of Eixample's busy streets and it feels like an oasis in the otherwise bustling atmosphere of Eixample. This makes it a good choice for visitors to Barcelona who want to be in the middle of the city but on a quiet street. There are several good hotels on Enric Granados street which you can find on the map below and listed below: Hotel Astoria Hotel Room Mate Emma Bcn Urbaness Hotels Gran Rosellon Hotel Granados 83 H10 Art Gallery Hotel America Barcelona Who was Enrique Granados?Enrique Granados was a Spanish composer and pianist born on July 27, 1867 in Lleida, Spain. He was one of the leading figures in Spanish classical music in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and is known for his piano works, chamber music, and operas. He was also a virtuoso pianist and performed widely in Spain and Europe. Unfortunately, Granados died on March 24, 1916, when the passenger ship "HMS Sussex" he was traveling on was sunk by a German submarine during World War I. The ship was traveling from Spain to England in 1916. Granados was on his way to a concert tour in the United States at the time but did not survive the sinking of the ship. His death was a great loss to Spanish music and to the wider classical music world, and his works continue to be performed and appreciated today. About Eixample areaEixample is generally a very popular place to stay in Barcelona for it's architecture, charm and wide selection of tourist sights, restaurants and shops. The Eixample district of Barcelona is the name of the 19th century modernist area of Barcelona that was developed when the old walled medieval city became too overcrowded. In the late 19th century the old Barcelona city walls were demolished and a new part of the city called the Eixample was built. There is only one remaining piece of Barcelona's medieval walls which is part of the former Royal shipyards - Drassanes Reials - and now home to the Barcelona Maritime Museum. The name Eixample actually means 'extension' in the Catalan language. In Spanish the name of this area is Ensanche, but that is rarely used these days. The Eixample district is Barcelona's most central district and covers a large area of Barcelona. It is split into two main parts which are Eixample left and Eixample right - and within these two parts are many smaller neighbourhoods. In the middle, Eixample borders on the Barcelona's gothic city area at the central square Plaça Catalunya and staying here is a popular because you are close to the medieval areas of Barcelona and the 19th century modernist areas. Some of Barcelona's most iconic and popular hotels are in the Eixample area - especially on elegant shopping boulevard Passeig de Gracia. Eixample is a very safe, interesting, stylish and central area to stay in Barcelona with many sights, stunning modernist architecture on tree lined streets and many high quality shop, cafes and restaurants. Some streets in the Eixample are very noisy and busy, so be sure to read the hotel reviews when booking hotels. Popular areas to stay in the Eixample part of Barcelona include: - near or on fashionable shopping street Passeig de Gracia, home to 2 famous modernist buildings by Antoni Gaudi. - near central square Plaza Catalunya - near Barcelona's biggest attraction the Sagrada Familia unfinished church - near Plaza Espanya and in the Sant Antoni area which is close to top attractions like Magic Fountain, the Spanish village Poble Espanyol and Montjuic hill - on or near quiet and tree lined street called Carrer d'Enric Granados FULLSCREEN map hotels Eixample Related pages about EixampleHistory Eixample Passeig de Gracia street Pictures Eixample district Barcelona Top Hotels Best Barcelona B&B Barcelona Boutique hotels © Copyright Barcelonayellow.com.
