International Museum Day is an event organised by the International Council of Museums. More than 37,000 museums participated in the event in about 158 countries and territories.

Most major museums in Barcelona and Catalunya take part in this wonderful initiative with many activities on the International Museum Day, or on other days around the date. Most Barcelona museums have free entrance all day International Museum Day and a popular related event in Barcelona is the free Barcelona museum night in May every year.
