Fundació Antoni Tàpies Barcelona. The Tapies foundation was created in 1984 by the artist Antoni Tàpies. The Tàpies Foundation aims to promote the study and knowledge of modern and contemporary art. The collection of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies consists mostly of the works donated by Antoni and Teresa Tàpies.
The building itself is considered the first modernist building in Barcelona. It was designed and built in 1886 by famous modernist architect
Lluís Domènech i Montaner for the publishing company Editorial Montaner i Simon. The distintive sculpture on the roof is by Tàpies and is called 'Núvol i Cadira' which means 'Cloud and Chair' in Catalan.
