MHC - Museu d'Història de Catalunya - Catalonia History Museum in Barcelona is a showcases of the Catalonia's history and cultural heritage.
The Catalonia History museum is housed in an former warehouse building in the Barcelona's
Port Vell called the 'Palau de Mar' which was built in 1900.
The Palau de Mar is the only structure from of Barcelona's old port that is still standing. The marina is still called 'Port Vell' which means 'old port' in Catalan language. The warehouse was designed in 1881 by the engineer Maurici Garrán who was the first director of the Barcelona Port Board of Works
The Museum of the History of Catalonia occupies four floors, two of which house the permanent exhibition of Catalan history from the palaeolithic age to the modern age.
These exhibitions document historic events and also provide a fascinating insight into everyday life in times gone by using interactive and fun exhibits. The Palau de Mar building also houses restaurants on the ground floor where you can dine with views of the Port Vell marina and and
roof-top restaurant with views of the city.

Wednesday 10 am to 8 pm
Sunday / public holidays 10:00 am to 2:30 pm
Closed: 1 & 6 January, 25 & 26 December
