Refugio 307 de Poble-sec. Air-raid shelter 307 in Poble Sec district of Barcelona. Called "Refugio Antibombas" in Spanish. This is one of more than one thousand bomb shelters from the Spanish civil war when Barcelona became the first city ever to suffer indiscriminate aerial bombings. The first bombs were dropped on 13 February 1937 and was the first of 192 bombardments by Franco's army. In March 1937 the area of Poble Sec was bombed and Refugio 307 was built. 1400 other bomb shelters were built during a two year period in Barcelona Refugio 307 is the only one that has been restored and that is open to the public on a regular basis.
