Pasteleria Escribà. Barcelona. Historic patisserie and cafe on La Rambla, Barcelona. Located in a beautifully adorned building called "Antigua Casa Figueras" on La Rambla, with small outdoor terrace. The building was originally a pasta factory and was re-decorated by architect Antoni Ros i Güell in 1902. Escriba was established in 1906 as a bakery on the street Gran Via 546 and became one of the loved bakeries in town. Escriba Gran Via is still open. It also has a cafe and is famous for the window display during Easter in Barcelona. In 1986 Antoni Escribà i Serra opened the cake shop on La Rambla and pioneered the art of chocolate figurines and creations, especially for Easter. Antoni Escribà i Serra was described as the Mozart of Chocolate, but sadly he passed away in 2004. The traditions of the Pasteleria Escribà remain in the family hands and is definately worth a visit if you want to sweeten your day and especially during Easter week.
