Is Barcelona expensive to visit?Updated June 2024 Barcelona is quite expensive to visit but still affordable and it is definately possible to visit Barcelona and keep costs low. Like all cities Barcelona has cheap options and good deals. Barcelona is not generally considered expensive in comparison to other top city destinations in Europe like London, Paris and Rome. Like any vacation Barcelona is as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. Barcelona has plenty of choice and you get good value for money. There are a number of free things to do like walking around the gothic area, visiting the beaches and parks. There is a wide range of accommodation from the many hostals, pensions, B&B's ranging up to the luxurious five star hotels. The large number of hotels means that there are many offers in off season periods and many hotels include breakfast and perks like free water or snacks. The top sights are quite expensive with ticket prices around €20 to €25 but there is also plenty to see and do for free like walking around the old parts of the city. The metro and buses are cheap, reliable and good value for money. Cost saving BarcelonaA good way to keep costs down is to stay in an apartment or aparthotel so that you save on snacks and some meals.
