Codorníu Cava Winery. Codorníu is the world's largest producer of Cava sparking wine making 60 million bottles annually. Codorníu is a family of winemakers with a history dating back to 1551 in the sixteenth century. In 1895 the famous Modernist architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch was commissioned to enlarge the winery and the modernist building today is used as the visitor center.

With fives centuries of history, in 2018 Codorniu was sold to The Carlyle Group, a US private equity company. Until the sale agreement, Codorniu  been the oldest family-owned cava-producer in Spain and one of the oldest family companies in the world. 

Codorníu is about 1 hour to the south west of Barcelona and has a visitor center with daily tours. You can organise your own visit or book a place on large or small group tours to Codorníu. Tours to Codorníu are often combined with tours to wine producers in the Penedès wine region of Spain or to Montserrat monastery
