Barcelona in July 2024 - What's on?


Barcelona is hot, sunny and fun city in July and usually welcomes visitors with many music festivals and outdoor activities.

Festivals July


There are two big music festivals in Barcelona in July which are the Festival Cruilla and the Heavy Metal RockFest. 

Pride Barcelona

Don't miss Pride Barcelona festival which is the Mediterranean's largest gay pride event.

Summer Jazz

Summer night 'al fresco' jazz concerts on the roof terraces of famous Gaudí buildings in Barcelona. Enjoy the magic of Gaudi combined with jazz concerts on the roof terrace of La Pedrera  / Casa Mila building in Barcelona. "Talents Jazz" is a festival for new Barcelona jazz talents on the rooftop of La Pedrera every Thursday and Friday, from 16 May to 26 July. Another special experience in July is the series of Magic Nights concerts on the roof of the Casa Batllo. Both buildings were designed by Antoni Gaudí and both are on elegant shopping and residential boulevard Passeig de Gracia. A lesser known Gaudi building, Palau Güell, near the harbour and La Rambla, also offers a series of outdoor live concerts on Thursday nights in July. 

Dance and theatre

For theatre, dance and cultural performance lovers, check out the annual Grec Festival, called El Grec, which is summer festival of dance, theatre and music performances in Barcelona in July.

Traditional culture

To see a typical local neigbourhood festival with Catalan traditions in July in Barcelona visit the La Fiesta Mayor del Poble-sec in the Poble-sec neighbourhood of Barcelona. A Festa Major is usually a week long festival with many local traditional Catalan activities including 'castellers' human towers, colourful processions with giants, street parties, concerts and more.

Open air cinema

Sala Montjuic is a summer open air cinema event with show open air big screen classic movies at Montjuic Castle on Montjuic hill.in Barcelona during July and the beginning of August. Sala Montjuic fans often bring a picnic to enjoy during the movie and the live jazz concert before the movie. Note that the Sala Montjuic movies are V.O. Version Original, which means they are shown in the original language with Spanish subtitles. 


Summer at the Museums  

Local families and children can usually enjoy over many activities at city museums during summer in Barcelona. including games, workshops, tours and more. For adults many museums, exhibition centres and heritage sites open late and offer special events such as concerts and film sessions.

Swimming pools
