How to get to Catalunya en Miniatura

Miniature Catalunya

The Miniature Catalonia park is 30 minutes by car from Barcelona in Torelles de Llobregat and maybe an hour by train, but it's worth the trip if you like something a bit different and quaint.

The park has an nice collection of miniature models of buildings and landmarks both from Barcelona and Catalonia.

From churchs to models of factories and ports. You can see the whole of Catalonia in one afternoon.

The Miniature Catalonia park is in a beautiful woodland setting with lovely country views.

The park has seen better days and there are no models of recent Barcelona landmarks like the Torre Glories. The model of the Sagrada Familia is more unfinished than the real thing these days, which is fun to see.

This model took 13.000 hours of work by 6 model builders.

That is 4.4 years of 8 hour work days. No wonder the real thing is taking so long

The model of Casa Vicens is easier to appreciate than the real Casa Vicens by Gaudi which is on the tiny street of Carolinas in Gracia.

It was built as country retreat, but is now hemmed in on all sides by the streets and house of Gracia area of Barcelona,

The Catalunya en Miniature park has a small train for rides around the park, a small children's playground, a cafeteria and picnic area.

It is half a kilometre from the village of Torrelles de Llobregat and there is a nice restaurant called "Can Balasch de Baix" (+34 936890851) just outside the park.

There is a children's forest adventure park next door called "El Bosc Animat."

Other attractions nearby are Gaudi's crypt at Colonia Guell which is 6 km from the Catalunya Miniature Park.
