The Three Kings’ cavalcade procession on 5th January is the biggest Christmas procession in Spain and Barcelona. In Spanish it is called "La Cabalgata de Reyes Magos” and in Catalan "la Cavalcada de Reis Mags d'Orient." These famous and beloved Three Kings of the Orient are called Balthasar, Gaspar and Melchior - in Catalan they are called Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar . The saying goes that that after the Kings gave gifts to the infant Jesus, they handed out gifts to children during their return journey. So in Spain children write to the Three Kings, who bring them presents on 6th January which is Epiphany day.
