Correfoc means 'firerun' in the Catalan language. The correfoc fire run or fire dance is a very popular Catalan tradition and is often seen at local neighbourhood festivals in the Catalonia region of Spain. About correfocs in Barcelona

It consists of 'colles de diables' which means 'groups of devils' chasing and dancing to the beat of drums and spewing out sparks from fireworks and firecrackers attached to forks.

Sometimes you will also see a dragon in a correfoc. In Barcelona you can see correfoc runs at almost all local festivals including the Festa Major de Gracia in August and the Merce festival in September every year.

Correfoc fireruns are very colourful and festive, but can be scary because of loud bangs and big showers of sparks flying through the air close to the spectators.

Earplugs are recommended and wear old clothes because the sparks can burn holes in them.

Sometimes, for children, there is a special 'light' edition of the correfoc firerun, which is slightly less explosive!
