End of bullfighting in Barcelona. Bullfighting ended in Barcelona in 2012. The Catalonia Parliament passed a law banning bullfighting on the grounds of animal cruelty, making it illegal in the Catalonia region. The ban came into effect on January 1, 2012. There are two former bull fighting rings in Barcelona called Monumental and Arenas de Barcelona.
